Claiming is one thing; demonstrating is another, as AMD shows with production speed, precision, and quality.

Info: All wood and metal objects are referred to as “beams” for simplicity.

Patented procedure for products with unparalleled precision

To continuously machine ready-to-assemble beams of various dimensions on all sides, quickly and precisely, using a machine whose system inherently works in all directions down to hundredths of a millimetre.

That was the challenge facing AMD. The solution was found in the now-patented AMD system, in which the beam rotates around its longitudinal axis. This system guarantees results to a precision of hundredths of a millimetre along with short machining times.

Note: the AMD machine reduces investment and production costs.

The new generation of the Do-All machine is up to 30% faster than the previous generation, as demonstrated in the video on our website.

Important advantages

  • The Do-All machine processes the beam close to its clamping devices. During machining thin beams remain stable and are minimally affected by any curvature, while the life of the equipment is kept long.
  • At AMD, beams are machined freestanding, away from any obstacles.
  • Variations in the (local) cross-section of the beam are automatically compensated in the Y and Z directions, preventing machining errors such as cuts that are inaccurate, too deep or too shallow.  Not even if the beam isn’t perfectly straight.
  • The clamping pressure is automatically and continuously adjusted (heavier beams receive more pressure than lighter ones), depending on dimensional variations in the sawn or planed beams.
  • The AMD machine continues to produce at the set precision, it requires no recalibration or appliances, nor costs for re-straightening anything ending a little out of square.
  • The Do-All machine is a multiple CNC machine that can complete any imaginable machining process on all sides however complex (also internally on the six inner sides of the beam).
  • While a finished workpiece is being fed out, the next beam is fed into the machine, with the automatic alignment of inserted beams causing no loss of time.
  • The AMD machine can produce without operators. No operator is required, allowing one person to operate multiple machines simultaneously.
  • The machine sorts the beams on the large outfeed table by length and width, allowing continuous production for hours without an operator.

  • Before the machine leaves for the customer, it is thoroughly tested with the customer’s products in his presence and checked against the required machining times.
  • The machine comes pre-assembled.
  • If utility connections such as dust extraction, compressed air and electricity are already in place, production can start on the very same day. This means installation costs are minimal.
  • Machining beams from 50 x 25 mm up to 360 x 250 mm, and up to 10 metres in length and more.
  • When machining multiple planks stacked together – for example, ten planks measuring 25 mm – the total processing time is approximately one tenth of the usual time.

  • Even short workpieces, just 10 cm long with internal machining on both ends, pose no difficulty.
  • The last workpiece from a beam may be short to reduce waste.
  • The process can easily resume after a production stop, as the beam does not need to be removed from the machine.
  • Residual wood is prevented as different workpiece types and models can be produced from the same beam.
  • The machine leaves no machining marks (e.g. black marks on oak).
  • Infeed and outfeed system at an ergonomic height.
  • Machine with high motor power at low speed (needed when using large equipment and heavy machining).
  • Workpieces are automatically marked and identified all around (even on oblique surfaces). This also helps on the construction site.
  • Automatic label printing to identify beams ready for assembly.
  • Automatic tool changing with twenty (or more) pick-up locations, dust-proof and short distances so fewer unproductive movements (so-called air machining).
  • Extra tooling: various units from the tool change magazine, such as a drill head for drilling multiple holes simultaneously, sander for furniture components, etc.
  • AMD uses no exotic components, only brands that are available across the whole world such as Festo, Siemens, etc.
  • At AMD, we do not use far-reaching unstable bearings or linear guides that are susceptible to damage, wear, or failure.
  • High-precision parts are kept outside the machining area, so they remain clean and protected from damage.
  • Full dust extraction with automatic, separate disposal of waste wood.
  • Continuous adjustment of the extraction flow ensures dust-free, low-noise production and work environment.
  • The AMD machine uses no measuring systems prone to slipping or drives susceptible to dust, shavings, or resin build-up.
  • AMD’s compact design allows machining beams up to 10 metres in a machine just 13 metres long.
  • The Do-All machine fits in a small workshop and does not require a poured concrete foundation; it can be installed directly on a level concrete floor.
  • The machine requires virtually no maintenance or cleaning.
  • Even a single workpiece can be produced cost-effectively.
  • Software updates available after the warranty period.
  • The unique procedure ensures tools are only about half their usual length, resulting in stronger, more precise, and more cost-effective tools.

Options

  • Waste container
  • Suction nozzle(s)
  • Removal conveyor
  • For beams exceeding 10 metres in length
  • Second display for beam monitoring
  • Tool magazine featuring over twenty positions
  • Operator-free production with finished products automatically aligned on the large outfeed table by length and width.
  • Customizable tools to meet customer requirements, including sanders and multi-spindle drill heads. Specify requirements when ordering.

Universal interface between design and manufacture

Only a CAD design of the wood structure needs to be loaded. A few clicks later, the machining program for the entire building is ready to run. Machine programming and errors become outdated.

  • Machine programming directly from the CAD model, using the international standard BTL.
  • The software verifies the manufacturability of workpieces and automatically generates the machining program.
  • Production is automatically optimised to minimise wood wastage and maximise productivity.
  • Intuitive user interface
  • Last-minute corrections

Try the following test on a non-AMD machine

Take a precision metal workpiece of any dimensions and mill a 2 mm deep groove all around. The groove must be uniformly precise to hundredths of a millimetre.
